Valentine’s 2018

Wednesday 14th February 2018 – St. Valentine’s Day:

Traditional meanings behind Rose colours:

Red Roses: Say “I Love You”. Red Roses are the ultimate symbol of LOVE.

Yellow Roses: Friendship & Freedom.

Pale Pink Roses: Happiness, Gentleness & Gratitude.

Deep Pink Roses: Say “Thank You”

Lilac Roses: Indicate Love at first sight & Enchantment.

White Roses: Symbolise Truth & Innocence.

Peach Roses: Appreciation.

Coral Roses: Desire.

Orange Roses: Enthusiasm.

This year at Bluebell & Ivy, we introduced two round shaped hat Box designs to our collection… ‘Red Velvet’ & ‘Darling’ – which were in high demand along with two pastel hand-ties which were also introduced named ‘Florence’ & ‘Vienna.’

The hat box design has become much more popular with florists over the years – although we like to give Jane Packer the credit as she originally modernised the idea back in the 90’s. Our style for the hat box is a tightly compact posy shape using a delicate mixture of seasonal flowers.

Hot pinks and Reds is certainly one of our favourite colour combinations and ‘Red Naomi’ (Best grade) Roses are ALWAYS our first choice for Valentine’s.

Finally, the star of the show this year was a mixed rose bouquet consisting of 50 of our best roses. This included ‘Red Naomi’, ‘White Avalanche’, ‘Peach Talea’ & ‘Sweet Avalanche’. It was simply stunning, not to mention… Astronomical in size!!

So we hope you all had a lovely Valentine’s Day and loved all your gorgeous bouquets.
